Tyron Pope, Ed.D., teaches Introduction to Criminal Justice as well as courses that explore research methodology in criminology. He is a retired member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) where he served as Sergeant Supervisor Detective Squad in the Organized Crime Control Bureau – Narcotics Division from 1992 to 2012. In his 20 years of service, he has worked in various capacities, including major case narcotics operations, street-level buy and bust enforcement, homicide, counter-intelligence, and internal investigations.

Dr. Pope received his Doctor of Education, which focused on social justice issues, from the Executive Leadership Program of St. John Fisher College. His dissertation focused on African-American K-12 male school principal's shared decision-making during crisis planning, restorative justice, and disciplinary issues dealing with school safety and gun violence.

Drawing from over 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, Tyron Pope, Ed.D., excels in building strategies to empower students, enable critical thinking, and shape the next generation of Criminal Justice professionals.

Dr. Pope is a retired member of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), having served as Sergeant Supervisor Detective Squad in the Organized Crime Control Bureau – Narcotics Division from 1992 to 2012. In his 20 years of service, he has worked in various capacities, including major case narcotics operations, street-level buy and bust enforcement, homicide, counter-intelligence, and internal investigations. His professional and academic experience with the New York City Police Department, the Legal Aid Society, and Concordia College has allotted him the opportunity to work with varied platforms and demographics. First, by demonstrating a commitment to education, public service, and social justice. Second, by way of team building, leadership, and supervisory experience. His broad-spectrum professional experience has allowed him to cultivate the ability to think strategically and analytically about social, economic, and political issues affecting diverse communities of New York City and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Pope completed both his graduate and undergraduate work at Concordia College located in Bronxville, New York. He holds a Doctor of Education from the Executive Leadership Program of St. John Fisher College, a Master of Science Degree in Business Leadership and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Dr. Pope's dissertation focused on African American K-12 male school principal's shared decision-making during crisis planning, restorative justice, and disciplinary issues dealing with school safety and gun violence.

Dr. Pope brings to the table a unique perspective, drawn from a solid academic, law enforcement, social justice, and criminal defense background.
