Dr. Christy Solorio is a certified pediatric nurse who began her nursing career in a pediatric ICU in northern California, and then worked for many years on the pediatric medical-surgical floor. She teaches pediatric nursing, pharmacology, and research in the Nursing Department. She also enjoys teaching a Columba Cornerstone course to first-year students interested in the ethical dilemmas surrounding health care. Her experience includes teaching online, hybrid, and in-person courses and she enjoys finding new ways to reach different types of learners.

Dr. Solorio’s research interests center on learning more about children’s experiences of health care. As a supporter of helping even very young children speak for themselves, she enjoys using a technique called “Draw and Tell” to help them share their stories in a developmentally appropriate way. She is also interested in studying the effects of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on teaching and learning in nursing education.
