Dr. Theysohn teaches a robust portfolio of core and advanced occupational therapy courses at Iona University. Her teaching includes Introduction to Occupational Therapy, The Occupational Therapy Process, Applied Neuroscience, Evidence-Based Practice I, Technology for Evidence-Based Practice, Pediatric Frames for Promoting Occupational Development, Performance, and Participation, Clinical Skills III, and School-Based Occupational Therapy. A seasoned pediatric occupational therapist with more than 18 years of diverse clinical experience, Dr. Theysohn has practiced across inpatient and outpatient child psychiatry, early intervention, and school- and clinic-based settings, bringing real-world depth and relevance to the classroom. In 2024 to pursue her passion for teaching, she joined Iona University’s faculty, where she also oversees immersive service-learning courses for first- and second-year students and serves as faculty advisor for the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD). Dr. Theysohn currently leads two community development projects focused on empowering preschool teachers and families to support preschoolers’ fine motor skill development in order to improve early literacy outcomes, integrating extensive clinical expertise with academic leadership.
