Estefania Velez is a PhD candidate (ABD) who teaches courses in composition and introductory literature. Her research focuses on nineteenth-century British literature, empire studies, and the Gothic, with particular attention to the understudied literary relationship between Great Britain and Latin America. She has published and presented on topics spanning queer visual culture, disability in horror cinema, and the scientific and cultural anxieties informing the works of Bram Stoker and Edgar Allan Poe.
