Dr. Mahoney is a historian of the early American republic with more than fifteen years of experience in the fields of public humanities and public history. She previously worked at the New-York Historical Society, the Center for the History of Business, Technology, and Society at the Hagley Museum and Library, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the National Constitution Center, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. In addition to history and digital humanities courses at Iona, Dr. Mahoney also teaches graduate courses in Museum Studies at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park, and specializes in early American history, the history of women and gender, and French literature.
