Dr. Ivy Linton Stabell teaches children’s and young adult literature, Early American literature, and writing, literature, and introductory courses in the Core, Honors program, and IC Success program. Her research focuses on nonfiction for children and young adults, especially children’s biographies and food writing by and for young people. Dr. Stabell’s dissertation focused on the construction of American identity in biographies published for children from the colonial era to the eve of the Civil War. Her articles have appeared in Children’s Literature, The Lion and the Unicorn, and numerous scholarly book collections.  She is co-editor of New Directions in Thomas Paine Studies with Dr. Scott Cleary.
