Annual Multicultural Recognition Ceremony
Friday, May 8, 2020, 5 p.m.
LaPenta Student Union, McGrath Room A&B
The Multicultural Student Recognition is a time to celebrate the academic achievements of our diverse Iona Student Community. This is a greater college wide initiative to recognize the unique experiences of students from diverse backgrounds. Iona faculty, staff and administrators will join students in celebrating their accomplishments in this commencement initiative. This event also recognizes the significant support and love that families and other important individuals have provided to graduates along the way. Additionally, this event is designed to honor and highlight the multitude of identities, cultures, religions, nationalities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic background and abilities of our graduating seniors that make the Iona community a masterpiece.
All graduating students are invited to participate in this time of celebration, but most commonly celebrate underrepresented cultures and heritages attending the College. We celebrate these students’ achievements because of the additional challenge they face graduating from a predominantly white institution. We celebrate cultural diversity and bestow these stoles in celebration of our students’ heritage, culture, persistence and academic achievement.

All attendees will have the opportunity to renew personal commitments to Move the World in ways where all people and all identities are honored and valued.
