Sky’s the Limit for Iona’s Greta Stjade ’24

Greta Stjade ’24 is a senior finance major from Riga, Latvia, and is a member of the women’s volleyball team. She was also recently an HR intern at SmartLynx Airlines, based in Latvia.
“As someone who has always been interested in aviation, I truly enjoyed learning more about the industry,” she said. “In this role, I prepared and reviewed various reports and other HR documents, which allowed me to understand the challenges that different departments face. I was also lucky to have amazing coworkers who are always more than willing to help me.”
Stjade says the most distinctive advantage she gained as an international student in the LaPenta School of Business has been the ability to connect with alumni in the business world.
“Events such as career chats allow students to connect with successful alumni and learn about their experiences,” she said. “These alumni share valuable career advice and insights into the job market that can be difficult to find elsewhere. The fact that Iona is so small makes events like this even better, as it’s much easier to make personal connections.”
Her advice to new students is to explore new interests, make connections, and take advantage of all the opportunities that Iona has to offer.
