Black Student Union (BSU)

The Black Student Union (BSU) is an organization that advocates the needs of students at the University, while empowering, teaching, discussing and exploring the Black experience. BSU serves as a liaison between students of African descent and other minorities and the campus.

BSU engages the community in efforts to promote cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence of multicultural groups. Throughout the year, BSU hosts educational events on topics from Black feminism to understanding and appreciating Black culture. The annual BSU Culture Show is a well-attended event on campus!

BSU encourages unity, inspires leadership and asserts dignity. If you want to represent culture, meet new people with unique ideas and have fun, Black Student Union is the place to be.

All of my clubs at Iona have served as tools in discovering what I want from myself in the future and have allowed me to connect with many other students of color. I have gained a deeper understanding of the ways I would like to grow as a person.
