Why did you decide to attend Iona?
I transferred to Iona during the spring semester of my junior year. I wanted to be close to my hometown while going to a school that would challenge me. I know many people that currently attend or have gone to Iona in my family, so it was an easy decision. Iona's campus was another factor; it’s easy to navigate and there are great places to eat in the area.

Where are you interning?
I’m an audit intern at Citrin Cooperman in White Plains, N.Y.

What do you enjoy most about your internship?
I enjoy applying what I’ve learned inside the classroom to the real world. My office also provides a friendly atmosphere in which I am comfortable to ask any questions I have while receiving appropriate guidance. My internship also has flexible hours and I have the option to work virtually or in person.

In what ways has Iona prepared you for the job market?
Iona has prepared me tremendously for the job market. The Center for Career Development gave me valuable feedback on my resume and helped me schedule mock interviews. The mock interviews taught me business etiquette and how to present myself to employers.

What do you feel is the most distinctive advantage gained from your Iona LaPenta School of Business experience?
Without the LaPenta School of Business, I would not have gotten my internship. The business school also offers a variety of networking events that have allowed me to make new connections in the business world.

What LaPenta School of Business faculty or staff member has made a positive impact on your future? Why?
Dr. Charles Cante is a professor that has left me with a great sense of pride to be an Iona student. I took Business Communications with him my first semester, which helped me become a better presenter. I enjoyed his class so much that I decided to take Operations Management with him the following semester. His lectures went beyond the textbook and offered real-world examples. His assignments were challenging, but they made you learn and become a better person.
