All students pursuing their initial teaching certification will need to complete the following workshops:

  • Child Abuse Identification (Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop)
  • School Violence Intervention and Prevention (SAVE)
  • Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)

Students completing a program leading to Special Education Certification (at any level) also need to complete a Needs of Students with Autism Workshop.

Student can find access to these workshops online, through local BOCES offices and areas colleges. Iona offers these workshops once a semester. We have provided some links for your reference below. After completing your workshop, please follow the instructions provided for documenting these to your New York State TEACH account.

Training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention
  • Dates: September 26; October 13; November 7; December 14; December 28
  • Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Location: Rockland Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence, Inc., 25 Smith Street, Suite 101: Training Rm - 1st floor outside, Nanuet, NY 10954
  • Fee: $85 per person – pay at class with check, cash or money order payable to “The Health Network”
