Brother Dennis Gunn teaches courses in secondary and middle school methods, social studies methods, and philosophy of education. His research interests include the foundations, methods, and history of religious education, the religious, spiritual, and moral formation of youth and young adults, and the philosophy of religious education and Catholic education, with particular emphasis on the thought of Bernard Lonergan.

Brother Gunn has been a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers for the past 25 years. He has served as a teacher in K-12 education in various Catholic schools throughout the United States and South America. His research interests include the foundations, methods, and history of religious education, the religious, spiritual, and moral formation of youth and young adults, and the philosophy of religious education and Catholic education, with particular emphasis on the thought of Bernard Lonergan. His dissertation, “Toward Infinite Horizons of Wonder: Bernard Lonergan’s Philosophy of Education and the Role of Critical Thinking in Teaching Religion,” explores the potential of Lonergan’s theological anthropology for constructing a philosophy of religious education for Catholic schools. Br. Gunn has presented both locally and nationally to Catholic school educators and has presented at the Religious Education Association annual conference as well as the National Catholic Education Association national convention.
