Club Sports Athletic Training Mission Statement
The mission of the Club Sports Athletic Training staff is to reduce the risk of injury and promote athlete safety. Athletic trainers are responsible for developing emergency action plans, evaluating and managing injuries, providing immediate care, and guiding rehabilitation. They maintain up-to-date expertise through ongoing education and professional development.
ATHLETIC TRAINER COVERAGE
All home contests are covered by a certified athletic trainer. Specific teams may require physician and EMS coverage for additional support.
Required Paperwork and Health Insurance
All medical forms must be completed in full and properly signed before any club sport athlete is permitted to practice or compete. Athletes must provide a current physical and a copy of their active health insurance card.

Return to Participation
Any club sport athlete who sustains a significant injury during practice or competition must be cleared by the Club Sports Athletic Trainer before returning to play. Coaches and players are not authorized to make return-to-play decisions.
CONCUSSION POLICY
Athletes experiencing concussion signs or symptoms must report to the athletic training staff immediately and be removed from play pending evaluation by athletic training staff and/or a physician. Athletes must complete a full return-to-play protocol with athletic training staff before returning to competition.
WEATHER POLICY
It is the policy of Club Sports athletic training staff to determine if extreme heat or cold will warrant modified or cancelled practice or competition.
The Club Sports Lightning Policy is recognized as a significant threat to the safety of student-athletes, coaches, staff members, and spectators. The Club Sports Athletic Training staff will monitor weather reports on a regular basis. This will be done using both a local weather forecast, as well as WeatherSentry. It is also monitored with the use of a portable lightning detector available in the Athletic Training Room.
A time of 30 minutes must pass between the last visible lighting strike and/or sound of thunder before play can be resumed.
