Kevin Cawley

Kevin CawleyBr. Kevin Cawley, CFC, PhD, is Executive Director of the Thomas Berry Forum for Ecological Dialogue at Iona College beginning in April, 2012.  Kevin produces a monthly newsletter on environmental concerns, The Carbon Rangers/Ecozoic Times.   The Newsletter is now in its 8th year of publication with over 450  subscribers in 25 countries.  Kevin maintains a website at:  with regular postings on issues concerning care for creation as well as archives of the monthly newsletter.
Kevin serves at United Nations Headquarters in New York as the Main Representative of Edmund Rice International (ERI),  a non-governmental organization working in 30 countries on behalf of young people and Care of the Earth.  Edmund Rice International holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.  Kevin is a member of the Executive Board and Secretary to the NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons.  He is affiliated with the Mining Working Group, a coalition of NGOs with a special concern for advocating for the Human Right to Water and Sanitation. ERI is committed in particular to bringing forward a rights-based perspective in the 30 countries where the Christian Brothers and Presentation Brothers  have a ministry presence.  ERI has begun the training of young persons in the complexities of Human Rights Law in Geneva, Switzerland,  where the brothers have established a community for ongoing cooperation in the workings of the UN Human Rights Council.
Prior to coming to his current position at Iona College, Kevin served as President of Bishop Hendricken HS in Warwick RI,  and later was a member of the Christian Brothers Leadership Team for the Eastern American Province and served as Province Coordinator for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation.  More recently, Kevin has presented programs on Care of Earth to the NY Archdiocesan Department of Education Forum on Catechist Formation, the NY Archdiocesan Conference on Adult Faith Formation,  offered the Keynote at the Good Counsel College Forum for Community Leaders on Environmental Sustainability, made presentations at  the Roundtable Discussion for  Iona’s Forum on Faithful Citizenship 2013 , and  with the Berry Forum at the  Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences Annual Meeting in 2014 at Pace University in New York. He is a 2009 GreenFaith Fellow.  GreenFaith is an interfaith coalition for religious environmental leadership.
