The Dance Minor at Iona College
The Dance Minor program provides students with the opportunity to continue their dance studies and expand their breadth of knowledge and performance experience through a wide variety of course options, as well as performance opportunities in the Dance Ensemble.
Students are required to take courses in techniques, choreography, theory, and Dance Ensemble and can choose from any of the academic classes for an 18-credit minor. Of those 18 credits, 15 are in dance and three are in another arts discipline that enables the Dance Minor student to explore making connections between arts disciplines.
Under close mentorship with dance faculty members, students develop their critical, theoretical, experiential, and creative knowledge in dance through courses in dance techniques, dance anatomy and somatic studies, creative and community practices, global and historical studies, and participation in performance and choreographic opportunities offered through the Dance Ensemble.
Students interested in the Dance Minor should contact Dr. Hannah Park, Director of the Dance Program, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (914) 633-2629.
