The Visual Arts Minor at Iona College
The Visual Arts Minor program provides students with the opportunity to continue their visual arts studies and expand their breadth of knowledge and creative experience through a wide variety of course options, as well as gallery opportunities in The Brother Chapman Gallery.
Students are required to take courses in Art Appreciation, Drawing and Painting, Introduction to Sculpture, Women in Art, Modern Art in New York City Collections, Digital Photography and Manipulation, Acrylic Painting, Watercolor and more and can choose from any of the academic classes for an 18-credit minor. Of those 18 credits, 15 are in visual arts and three are in another arts discipline that enables the Visual Arts Minor student to explore making connections between arts disciplines.
Under close mentorship with visual arts faculty members, students develop their aesthetic, theoretical, experiential, and creative knowledge in visual arts through courses.
Students interested in the Visual Arts Minor should contact Professor Thomas Ruggio, Director of the Visual Arts Program, at (914) 633-2628 or TRuggio@iona.edu.
