Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the annual dues for the academic year?

    The required dues are $200 per family.
  • Who are the teachers?

    They are a group of outstanding and dedicated local teachers who offer a curriculum designed specifically for this program. In addition, academic college and career counselors, and college science students assist these local teachers.
  • When is the program?

    The fall to spring program is from October – June. Classes are held on alternate Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • How do I enroll in the STEP program?

    Enrollment in the STEP Program takes place three times a year. In the Fall, Spring and Summer. Applicants must have a good math and science grade point average, and be in good standing with their school. Applications can be obtained from the STEP office at Iona College or through science and math teachers or guidance counselors at middle and high schools throughout Westchester and the Bronx. Summer application must be mailed before May 1 and the Fall/Spring applications must be mailed before September 1 to:

  • Is there a waiting list?

    Yes, if necessary, your name will be placed on our waiting list. If an opening becomes available in your grade, your application will be considered for the program. If admitted you will be notified.
  • Can I cancel after enrollment?

    Yes.
  • What should I bring?

    Pen, Pencil, Calculator, and Notebook.
  • What should I wear?

    Informal clothing is appropriate for all occasions, except student conferences where business casual attire is required.
  • What are the fun things STEP students do?

    They go on field trips to museums and STEM sites such as Google, NBC and NASA Centers. They go on college tours and conferences across the country, they attend Broadway shows and dinners in NY City. They do hands-on science projects and get a chance to make long lasting friendships.
