Dr. Jack Breslin teaches courses in media law and ethics, introduction to mass communication, and sports journalism. His primary research area is in the media's treatment of crime victims from the legal and ethical perspectives. Dr. Breslin's other research interests are international media ethics, sports journalism, and journalism history – particularly presidential press relations

Dr. Breslin joined Iona University in 2001, after a professional career in media. He has been extensively interviewed and published about his primary research area, the media's treatment of crime victims from the legal and ethical perspectives, which was the focus of his doctoral dissertation.

His academic research and distinctions include:

  • 2012 Hugh J. McCabe Memorial Award for Social Justice.
  • He is currently writing a textbook for combined media law and ethics courses, which he currently teaches at Iona, in addition to the introductory mass communication course and sports journalism.
  • His Iona service includes being moderator for the men's and women's water polo teams, and four Iona in Mission trips, including three to Africa.
