You’re taking the first step in an exciting process: one that will change your life. 

Our application process is designed to look at the whole person. We will consider your application and past academic performance, along with your recommendation letter(s) and overall personal performance.

Application Deadlines

Most of our graduate programs operate on a rolling admission basis. But we do encourage you to submit your application a month prior to a session start if possible, to help assure a smooth transition.

  • School of Arts & Science classes enroll in four sessions: Fall (end of August), Spring (January), and two summer sessions. School Psychology admits for Fall term only.
    • For priority admission and scholarships, please submit your application no later than August 1 for the Fall term, December 15 for the Spring term, and May 15 for the Summer term.
  • NewYork-Presbyterian Iona School of Health Sciences classes enroll in two sessions: Fall (end of August) and Spring (January). Communication Sciences & Disorders and Occupational Therapy admit for Fall term only.
    • Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications by the following dates:
      • Occupational Therapy (MS)
        • Priority Deadline: March 1
        • Final Deadline: June 20
      • Communication Sciences & Disorders (MA)
        • Early Decision Deadline: January 15,
        • Regular Decision Deadline: February 15
        • Final Deadline: July 1
      • Marriage & Family Therapy (MS)
        • Priority Deadline: April 1
        • Final Deadline: July 1
      • Mental Health Counseling (MA)
        • July 1
  • School of Business classes follow a trimester schedule, and enrolls in five terms: Fall (end of August), Winter, (late November); Spring (late February) and two Summer sessions.

Step 2. Send Us Your Transcripts

Please submit all official and final transcripts for all colleges and universities attended

Your final transcript should show a degree conferral date. Please note that if you send us the transcript directly, it will still be considered unofficial. For the transcript to be considered official, it must be received directly from your college or a transcript service.

There are two ways you can submit your official transcripts:

Electronic (fastest and preferred)
An official electronic transcript must be sent directly from your college or the transcript service they utilize. You can request that the transcript be sent to gradadmissions@iona.edu for Student Clearinghouse or, if using Parchment, Iona University - Graduate Admissions.

Hard Copy
The official transcript must be sent in a sealed envelope to the following address:

Step 3. Submit Additional Supporting Materials

  • Recommendation Letter: We want to hear from a professional or academic contact who knows you best. Letters can be submitted in the application portal. (This requirement is optional for LaPenta School of Business applicants who have a cumulative GPA over 3.0).
  • Current Résumé: Submit the most recent version of your résumé through the application portal.
  • NACES Course Evaluation/Official TOEFL or IELTS scores (International Students Only)
  • Additional requirements for select programs listed below.

Additional Requirements for select programs in the School of Arts and Science

  • Education (MSEd): Documentation of New York State teacher certification sent to ETS code 2324. . A transcript evaluation will be done to determine if any outstanding prerequisites need to be completed.
  • Education (MST): A transcript evaluation will be done to determine if any outstanding prerequisites need to be completed.
  • Psychology Programs (School Psychology (MA), Psychology (MA): General-Experimental Specialization or Psychology (MA): Industrial-Organizational Specialization): Two letters of recommendation are required if your GPA is below 3.0. If your overall GPA is 3.0 or higher, you may submit one letter of recommendation, but it must be from an academic reference. Applicants must complete at least nine credits in psychology, including Statistics for Behavioral Sciences, Research Methods, and one upper-level psychology course.
  • Sports Communication & Media (MA): As part of your application, you are welcome to submit one writing or video sample that demonstrates your video production skills or your ability to discuss a sports-related topic or issue (optional). Candidates for this program will also meet directly with the department faculty as part of the admission process.
