WICR Earns Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Honors

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Iona College's student radio station, WICR, earned Best Streaming Only Station for schools with less than 10,000 students at the 79th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards ceremony in New York City.

Each year, the Intercollegiate Broadcast System honors the best and the brightest among college and high school media. WICR was named a finalist in four categories for the 2019 awards – Best Show Promo, Best Business Director, Best Use of Social Media and the award it won, Best Streaming Only Station (Under 10,000 Students).

The Best Streaming Only award finalists included Berklee College of Music (Boston, Mass.), Simmons University (Boston, Mass.), Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston, Mass.) and Capital University (Columbus, Ohio).

Brian Moran '19, treasurer for WICR, was also the recipient of the Best Business Director award.

Attending the March 2 ceremony and representing WICR were Kathryn Adriani '19, president; Julia O'Rega '19, vice president and Giuseppe D'Aloisio '14, Iona College media director & WICR Advisor.

The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System is a not-for-profit educational association and foundation founded in 1940 that serves not-for-profit education-affiliated high school radio/TV, college radio/TV, and community stations and streaming/webcasters.
