Why Study Business at Iona?

The LaPenta School of Business offers a BBA degree in eight major areas of study. You can build skills across a range of complementary and cross disciplinary areas of business.

We pair rigorous academics with small class sizes that engage our students in a highly personalized education – and we do this in a state-of-the-art learning facility.

Our accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) — a distinction awarded to just 5 percent of business schools worldwide – ensures our students receive high quality programming from a distinctive faculty.

Learn and study the foundational areas of business and build your skills for success in small classes. Our location affords students the opportunity to learn and work in one of the economic centers of the world: New York City.

What You'll Learn

As a student pursuing a BBA, you'll receive the benefits of a liberal arts education while simultaneously completing our challenging business core curriculum. We'll introduce you to accounting, finance information systems, marketing, management, and more. Then you'll be able to choose from eight majors so you can focus on what will best prepare you for your future. We’ll tie it all together with capstone courses in business strategy and policy, and the role of business in society.

We offer BBA degrees with the following majors:

Accounting*: Build career skills in financial and managerial accounting and taxation. You’ll learn to analyze information and make effective business leadership decisions.

Business Administration: You'll deal with managerial and decision-making concerns from a broad perspective in this interdisciplinary major.

Entrepreneurship: Develop and apply an entrepreneurial mindset to solve daily business challenges and prepare for a range of careers in an increasingly dynamic and unpredictable economy.

Finance*: Prepare for a wide range of careers as you learn the foundations of data collection, analysis, financial management, securities trading and portfolio management.

Information Systems*: Develop the skillset you'll need to analyze, design, and evaluate an organization's information and technology resources.

International Business*: Gain a strong foundation in economics, finance, management and marketing, all in a global context.

Management*: Understand how to lead organizations and people by combining organizational theory and experiential learning opportunities.

Marketing*: Learn the tools and strategies to build and maintain profitable customer relationships.
