Master the media that move the world

Our students are both creative and analytical storytellers. They engage people and strive to discover the truth. They present information in compelling ways across multiple media platforms. Through the Mass Communication Department, you’ll develop these skills and prepare for an exciting media career by concentrating in advertising, broadcast media, journalism or public relations.
All of our Mass Communication Department faculty members have extensive professional experience in the fields they teach. Plus our associated student-run clubs will enable you to practice real-life skills right on campus. Then, when you’re ready, Iona’s close proximity to New York City will give you quick access to the media capital of the world. That means you can network with our wide network of alumni and corporate connections to find the internship or media position you really want.
As a mass communication major, your internship opportunities will range from national media companies, fashion retailers and news organizations to entertainment shows, online magazines and prestigious sports networks. Some of the exciting places our students have interned at include major advertising agencies and public relations firms, NBCUniversal, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Barney’s, Sports Illustrated, Walt Disney and many others.
With a degree in mass communication, you’ll have what it takes to move the world through media!
