Early Acceptance Program Partnerships

An early acceptance program (EAP) is a way for a student to guarantee a spot in medical school early on in his or her undergraduate career. The EAP is a great option for highly qualified students who are already dedicated to a career in the health professions.

Iona College has partnered with three health professional institutions to offer conditional acceptance:

  • Lake Eric College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)
  • New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM)
  • New York Chiropractic College (NYCC)

Partnership Details

Lake Eric College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)

The partnership between Iona College and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) will allow Iona College students as well as high school seniors to be conditionally accepted into medical, dental, or pharmacy school as a freshman or sophomore at Iona College.  To qualify, students must have a minimum SAT score of 1240 and, if in high school, an unweighted GPA of 3.5 (88). Once accepted into the program, the student needs to maintain a high academic standing, but will not need to take the MCAT or PCAT if he/she is interested in the medical or pharmacy programs, respectively.  For the medical and pharmacy programs, there is an optional “3+4” accelerated program, where students spend only three years at Iona, then matriculate at LECOM for the traditional four years, obtaining both a BS and MD in seven years.  Additional qualifications can be obtained by contacting the the pre-health advisor, Dr. Yourha Kang (ykang@iona.edu).
