Center for Social Research

The Iona University Center for Social Research is an inter-professional institute established by the University in 1998 to actualize the University's mission through service to Iona and the local community.

The Center's purpose:

  1. To represent Iona University as a center of academic learning and research.
  2. To bring Iona University and the community together in an effort to better understand the nature of local issues.
  3. To provide students and faculty with research opportunities as they apply to issues of community concern.

The Center is located in the Social Work Department on campus and currently serves as evaluator for programs in Westchester and the Bronx.

The Center provides a range of services and research modalities. While most of the Center's current projects focus on program evaluation, the following services are also available:

  • Telephone surveys
  • Mail surveys
  • Needs assessment
  • Participatory action research
  • Focus groups
  • Qualitative studies
  • Outcomes assessment
  • Data collection and analysis

The Center for Social Research is a non-profit organization. Any fees charged for projects represent actual costs for services rendered including administrative costs incurred by the faculty associates.
